What you can ask for
If there is something on Festro about you, your venue, your event or your name, you can ask us to change it or take it down. There are three requests, and you do not have to choose the polite one:
- Correct it — a wrong date, a moved or cancelled show, the wrong venue, a misspelled name, a broken ticket link, a listing attributed to the wrong organizer.
- Remove one listing — take a single event down.
- Remove everything and stop — take down every listing associated with you or your venue, and do not list you again.
You do not need an account, a reason, a lawyer, or proof of harm. If you want it gone, that is sufficient. Background on where listings come from is on the How your event got on Festro page.
This page also covers the other thing you might want gone: your own Festro account — profile, tickets, follows. Those are Sections 8 and 9, further down.
Who can ask
Anyone connected to the listing: the organizer or promoter, the venue, an artist or DJ named in it, an agent or manager acting for them, or the platform the listing was sourced from.
For a correction, we may ask a question or two to make sure the change is right — a wrong “fix” is its own kind of harm to an organizer. For a removal, we act first and ask nothing: taking a listing down cannot hurt anybody, so it is not worth putting an identity check in front of it. If it later turns out the request did not come from you, tell us and we will restore it.
How to ask
Use our removal form — it goes straight to the queue we watch. To make it fast, include whatever you have:
- The link to the Festro page (or the event title, date and venue).
- What you want: correct it, remove this one, or remove everything.
- For a correction — what it should say instead.
- Optionally, who you are in relation to the event. Helpful, not required.
You can write in French or English, and you do not need a Festro account. The form asks for an email address only so we can confirm back to you when it is done.
What happens, and when
Removals are actioned within 24 hours of us receiving the request, and we write back to confirm it is done. In practice it is usually much faster — we are a small Montréal team and this queue is watched.
Corrections are usually same-day. If a correction needs the organizer's confirmation and we cannot reach them quickly, we will hide the listing while we sort it out rather than leave wrong information up.
Search engines may hold a cached copy of a page for a while after we remove it. That copy is outside our control, but we will tell you what we have done so you can request removal from the search engine directly if you want to.
Removal is permanent
When we remove a listing, we record it so that the pipeline cannot bring it back. A later re-check of the same source will not recreate the event, and neither will a different source listing the same show. Removing an organizer suppresses their future events too — the opt-out is not a one-time deletion that quietly reverses on the next refresh.
That is deliberate, and it means removal is worth thinking about for a second if what you actually wanted was a fix. If you change your mind, tell us — a suppression can be lifted by a human, on your say-so.
Rights holders and platforms
If you operate a platform, a ticketing service or a site we read, and you want us to stop, you do not need to send a formal notice or escalate. Tell us and we stop the same day — we turn off the entire source, not just the page you noticed, and we do not resume without a written agreement with you.
This applies to a cease-and-desist letter, a blocked request from your servers, or an email from a person who works there. We treat all three the same way: stop first, discuss after. Technical details on blocking our crawler directly are on the FestroBot crawler page.
For a copyright complaint about material we host, or a privacy request under Québec's Law 25, see the Terms of service and the Privacy policy — but our removal form reaches the same people either way.
What we cannot do
We can only change Festro. If the same event is listed on a ticketing platform, in the City's open-data set, or on a venue's own site, we cannot remove it there — but our listing will point you at the original source so you can ask them too. If a listing keeps reappearing from a source we removed it from, that is a bug on our side and we want to hear about it.
Delete your Festro account
Removal is not only for listings. You can also delete your Festro account — the one you use in the Festro mobile app (Android package com.festro.festroapp, published by Festro Inc.) and at festro.com. It is one account in both places, so deleting it from either deletes both. It is free, you do not need to give a reason, and we will not put a retention offer in front of you.
In the app — the fastest route, effective immediately:
- Open the Festro app and sign in, if you are not already.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the summary of what will be removed, then confirm.
Without the app — if you have uninstalled it, cannot sign in, or never used it: use our contact form and include the email address the account uses so we can find it. We may need to verify the address is yours before acting — deletion cannot be undone, so we would rather be sure than fast. We action deletion requests within 30 days of receiving them, and we write back to confirm when it is done.
If you only want to stop hearing from us, you do not have to delete anything — turn off notifications and marketing email in the app under Settings, or withdraw consent from the Privacy policy page.
Account deletion — what goes, what stays
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize the following within 30 days — immediately, in the in-app flow:
- Your account and sign-in — credentials invalidated, every signed-in device logged out, and the email address freed for a fresh registration later if you want one.
- Your profile — name, username, photo, bio, phone number and email address.
- Your reservations and tickets — including passes for upcoming events, which are voided.
- Your follows and saved events — the organizers you follow, your saved and liked events, and your community memberships.
- Your marketing consent — withdrawn at the same moment, so a deleted account is never mailed.
Deleting your account cannot be undone — and unlike a listing removal (Section 5), there is no suppression a human can lift afterwards. Make sure you have what you need — for example a ticket for a night that has not happened yet — before you confirm.
A short, specific list of what we cannot delete on request, because the law requires us to keep it:
- Transaction and tax records — kept for up to 7 years. We are the merchant of record for ticket sales, so Canadian tax and bookkeeping rules oblige us to retain proof of each sale, in a form detached from your profile.
- Backups — a deleted account may persist in encrypted backups for a short period after deletion. Backups are purged on a rolling schedule, and a restored backup is re-scrubbed, so a deletion is never quietly reversed.
These mirror the retention commitments in the Privacy policy, which remains the authoritative statement of how long we keep information and why. Your other rights — access, correction, export, complaint — are set out there too.
